Unified Endpoint Management (UEM): What’s your flavor?

There’s no shortage of choice when it comes to IT and security operations solutions. Building the right stack can be daunting. Especially if you’re a CIO, CISO or operations leader faced with the challenge of rising threats and supporting your organization’s desire to embrace new technology and practices like remote working. More often than not, it simply comes down to following the path of least resistance. Upgrading an existing platform or buying another product from a current supplier can seem like an attractive option if the perceived organizational impact is limited. And, of course, phrases like “existing supplier”, well established”, and “global leader” are more likely to melt in the mouth when it comes to presenting a business case to the board. But here’s the thing, although going for a new, innovative partner may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there are good reasons why you should keep it on the menu.

In a nutshell, it comes down to constantly evolving threat landscape. Criminal gangs, powered by the profits of ransomware and fraud attacks, continue to adopt the latest tools and techniques to scale their exploits. Keeping your devices and your data safe is a moving feast; and traditional solutions can struggle adapt fast enough.

Comparing apples to oranges

In his recent Radar Report, GigaOm analyst, Paul Stringfellow, set himself the task of reviewing and ranking a smorgasbord of leading UEM solutions. Each product is assessed in terms of maturity, innovation and whether the solution is feature focused or part of a broader capability. Platform players can essentially be considered essentially be considered as offering a table d’hôte menu whereas feature players are more like an à la carte dish. The solutions are then ranked in terms of their completeness, all those must provide features considered as “table stakes”. Entrants provide a basic fare, challengers have a more appealing offer and leaders are the equivalent of a Michelin Starred feast.

Food for thought

Staying ahead of cybercriminals requires innovation and a lot of it. Our outstanding development team have been cooking up award-winning innovation for over a decade and Cortex, Syxsense’s no-code workflow design studio for automating any aspect of endpoint management and security, truly is the best thing since sliced bread! It’s small wonder Syxsense is considered an innovative leader and outperformer in the GigaOM Radar Report for UEM. And, if that’s not enough to whet your appetite, Syxsense gained the same distinctions in the recent Patch Management Radar Report.
